Summary :
The study was double aimed: to explain the mechanism of action and the effect of different treatments based on the use of energy-based devices using international studies conducted on this new medical field in order to encourage the use of energy-using devices by physicians and patients.We studied the current international research based on the use of energy-based therapies for vulvo-vaginal disorders. The field of the current study involved laser therapy, radio-frequency therapy, high intensity focused ultrasound and high intensity focused electromagnetic technology. We focused on reporting evidence supporting their current indications and efficiency.This alternative gynecological treatment has scientifically proved efficiency, is associated with minimal side effects and can often avoid the use of hormonal and/or surgical treatments.
